Glee 1x09
I was going to cut for spoilers, but there's no need. I kinda loved this episode. Best episode yet. Largely due to the focus on the minor characters over the two love squares, although I did enjoy the scenes with Puck. And Rachel? Poor little privileged girl.
I've read from two different sources that this is the tone that the creator wants Glee to have in the long run. If so, then I may have to stop hatin'.
But the star of the show tonight was Jane Lynch, who made me cry.
I still have some issues with the writing of certain characters, and I still wish that Emma/Will/Terri/Rachel/Finn would get about a tenth of the screen time that they currently do. But this episode makes me hopeful. I went into it very nervous, seeing how it deals with discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, and ability. But while not perfect, it did a hell of a lot better than I thought it would.
ETA: Issues I have include the fact that Artie is played by an actor who can walk. And the fact that we'll probably go back to 10 episodes in a row about the white leads. I'm reading other people's blogs to get an informed opinion, but my first instinct is to like this episode, and I'd like to ride that for a while.
