So...RoTK and life

clodia_risaAlright - I helped move Matt in two days ago. We vegged the rest of the day. Yesterday I met Dr. MacEwen for lunch at Willy's Mexican play (awesome food - have to go again!). Then I saw RoTK and went X-Mas shopping. Today I slept. And slept. And slept. And it felt good. It was about 13 hours of sleep making up for the past two weeks of not sleeping enough. I'm in such a better mood now.
So RoTK - very good. As good as Fellowship, and much better than Two Towers. Faramir came back to his normal self. Eowyn kicked ass. Merry and Pippin kicked major ass. Aragorn kicked ass. Gandalf kicked ass.
Okay...better analysis already, I know. It was wonderful. I still hated Arwen. Her storyline 1)is total bullshit and 2)ruins the flow and feel of the movie. But evrything else was great. Denethor was more insane and villainy than in the book, but it worked. There were a couple things about Gandalf that should have been left in, but I saw the ring on his finger, even if they didn't comment on it. I like the way it ended - just like it did in the book. Unlike most epics which ends with "they won" it follows the story until we know that life goes on for all of them, and it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone gets a picturesque ending. And I just want to say the three seconds of blackness after Frodo says "I'm glad it in the end I was with you (or something like that)" to Sam was EVIL! More EVIL THAN EVIL ITSELF!
Okay - the ghosts were wonderful. Not too overdone, and veryvery creepy. Shelab (shudder) very good. Gollum pitiable. Frodo and SAm actually got on my nerves a bit. Everytime they came onscreen and it WASNT when they were in Mt. Doom I was like - not those two again! Also - I was sad that Legolas and Gimli didn't get to do anything or get any character development - even though Aragorn, Pip, and Merry got it all.
For kawcrow - I said at least three times "their love is so Pure!" not just for you...but because it was true. Also - did anyone else think that the reunion scene ran like a porno? I was expecting girls in teddies having a pillowfight with that kind of cinematography.
But overall - very good. Very very good. I missed Saruman. But most of the cuts made sense. *well done Peter Jackson*!!!
