I've been reading a lot of essay recently on racism, discussions of racism, how not to be racist, and in fact how to be an anti-racist activist. I've been reading about privilege, especially the privilege of being able to ignore the problems of institutionalized racism. And I'm frustrated. I'm so frustrated.
What the hell is wrong with us that we are afraid of other people based on their ancestry or skin tone? What the hell? People are people, and they want the same things. What is wrong with the "system" that it must profit through blindness and keeping others down for no good reason? Explain this to me.
