The sweetest words...
Jun. 1st, 2006 02:11 pm"I have to say, [Clodia] makes some good arguments."
Recently there has been, for no better term, wank in my guild. I live with my fiance and Dem (another guy, aren't I scandalous). Dem broke up with his gf a few months ago. We are all part of a guild with about 20 active members. Dem and his ex...have not been getting along. Two weeks ago she announced that she was leaving the guild because people were not treating her right, and had changed in attitude towards her. This set off another series of arguments between Dem and her. Two days ago she announced that she was not leaving the guild, had actually been considering it because she didn't have the money for the update to the game. Dem called her on her changing reasons, someone else asked him to drop it. Vinco responded, and she got pissed and responded to him. (Let me just add that Vinco and Dem's replies were somewhat biting, especially since the only people she could have been referring to were us.)
In her answer she used a lot of emotional arguments and very nicely and subtly twisted their words to make them seem bad. My post called her on it. By prodigious use of the quote tag. I spent two hours on that baby. I tried to make it as neutral and fair as possible. When I got too frustrated, or when I felt like slapping her too much, I took a break, killed stuff in game, and went back to writing.
This was necessary because the majority of the guild thinks that it is just personal problems that need to be reconciled. That is their advice - please work it out privately. Well, we all have tried to work it out privately, and it hasn't worked. We were offended when she posted that she had issues with people and then pretended that nothing happened. We tried to legitimately call her on this discrepancy as officers of the guild, and she made it out to be only because of personal reasons. And it seemed like at least two people believed her.
I make my post, and the first response of any length to it (besides hers) is: "I have to say, [Clodia] makes some good arguments."
I have to say, I am pretty damned happy.
