Politics:
Thousands of Iraqis are fleeing the country every day, in what the UN's refugee agency describes as a steady, silent exodus. I can't do any better than the BBC's own header. They're saying that over 365,000 left the country this year alone. That 40,000 flee just to Syria in a month.
The Nobel Peace Prize Winner this year is really cool.
An essay in which blogging is compared to drugs, and referred to as a tool of Satan. However, the author did have a few good points, like "don't put your personal info on the internet, and for heaven's sake don't give your information to total strangers who very likely may beMark Foley creepy old men.
An interview in which I, an agnostic and advocate for the scientific method, get royally ticked off at a guy for talking about how evil all religions are. One of the things that he said was that "Intelligent people tend to be atheist." That is true. But corrolation does not equal causation you arrogant bastard.
Yeah, I've heard that intelligent/more educated people have a greater tendency to be atheist. I've heard that about rich people too. Does this mean that they have escaped from the brainwashing of their youth, can see through the feebleminded lies and deception? Or does this mean that they have less reason to have faith? That by being successful, they feel like they do not need religion, or a God, to help them.
And he doesn't quote any studies, or statistics! For someone promoting the scientific method, he surely is lacking in proof of this little statement. With as many problems that I have with religion, this jackoff makes me want to picket on religion's side.
ALSO!
zebeckras: I talked to my mother about the ear infections. I started having them when I was three months old, and would act completely miserable, almost like colic. I would want to suck on a bottle or a pacifier, and would touch or tug on my ears (once I got to be about six months or so). She doesn't remember any headshaking. She said I would just want to sit on her lap, but that wouldn't make me any happier. I asked her about shrieking, but she said I wasn't much of one, and it was more crying that shrieking.
