I knew that he had been looking a bit skeevy after breaking up with Michelle Williams, but I didn't know that he was "into" drugs (although the news is saying that he had been public about his trouble sleeping, that he said in a recent interview that he had been taking Ambien because anxiety was preventing him from sleeping).
Apparently the psychological prep he'd been doing for the Joker role was contributing to his insomnia? Oh geeze this movie is going to creep the hell out of me now.
I've been really looking forward to it; Batman Begins was a fantastic comic book movie and I've been very curious about Heath as the Joker, he's such an odd choice for the role. I'm still looking forward to it but there's an aura of "GYYYAAAHHHH" over it now. And over 10 Things I Hate About You. My pet fluffy Shakespeare movie!!!
I'm sad as hell for his family and for the great movies he isn't going to get to make. He was a hot guy and a solid actor who made good role choices, and without squeeing over him 24/7 I had pegged as an actor to go "!" over for the foreseeable future.
I liked him in Brokeback Mountain, but otherwise I wasn't too impressed with his acting ability. However, he was hot. I remember watching 10 Things I Hate About You with some friends in high school, and none of them thought that he was hot. I was all, "You guys, he's hot! He's going to be big!"
I've been looking forward to Batman Begins more than any other movie this year, and I'm ashamed to admit that I was relieved when I check and saw it was in post-production. Michael Caine said that Ledger's Joker scared the shit out of him - that's major. But now its going to be all weird, and fanboys won't be able to properly critique him because he's dead, and he was a good actor, why did he have to die?
