Spoilers and discussion.
Spike/Angel/Dru/Lindsey/Gunn/Eve/Harmony/Fred/AND NO WESLEY! - Spoilers ahead.
Yes...Wesley would have been the ONLY thing in this episode to have made it better. Poor Lorne barely got a line. But as for my other impressions of the show.
GUH!
Spike - Pretty. Wait, thank you Captain Obvious! More on that in a later episode of clodia the drooling idiot. So - I LOVED the S/A interaction. A little implied m/m slash - but not that much. Damn Angelus is a bastard. I loved getting more background story on the two of them - and it is interesting (as many ff writers have guessed) that Angelus made William into Spike the monster. Literally ("You know, you really ought to get yourself a new name. Something that inspires more terror.") HE!HE!HE!
And Angel - I love it when he's being beige. And I loved him fighting with Spike. And I loved him realizing why Spike beat him. And I loved the whole "We're going to fight and psychoanalyze ourselves/each other simultaneously." YAY! And I just want to say - they never should have brought Buffy into this. That made the fight even more scarily intense. I thought (for a second, until I remembered what the title of the show was) that Spike had staked Angel.
Anyway - I can't say how much I loved this episode. Spike's corporeal. Spike and Angel fight. We get backstory. And I saw the "Warning: Pivotal Episode" Sign about two seconds into it. I mean - think about how much happens! Lindsey. Eve. Spike (body). Spike (beating Angel). Angel (realizing why).
That's all I want to say. More info on the rest of what's going on in my fandom worlds later.
