Also, I have a kitty winding around me. :)
This is my favorte episode of this half of the season. Hands down.
1. Boomer had me fooled too. I was very disappointed in Tyrol for hurting/killing that poor 8 to take her place. But the look of sickness on his face when he found out what Boomer had done. Douglas acted this episode amazingly well. His face was so expressive.
2. Kara and Slick's scenes are probably one of my favorite parts of the entire show. I knew as soon as Daniel's artistic talent was mentioned that he was Kara's father. I knew as soon as I saw Kara walk over and start talking to Slick that he was not real, and so it immediately followed that he had to be her father. Either he was a small part of herself trying to figure something out or he was her perception of her father (and still trying to help her figure something out). The use of music in this episode was phenomenal. I could tell that they were actually playing piano - and I have always noticed when they cut to separate hands playing piano in movies. Drives me crazy. Sackhoff had a great episode to work with, and she delivered. Of course, it's hard for me to get too much Kara.
3. The reveal on what song she was playing? Perfect. Beautiful. Took me by surprise. The shots, the lead up, even the song that younger-her was playing (Yes, I read Bear McCreary's blog) - all wonderful. The reaction shots to Tigh? I rewatched that section just a few minutes ago. It has such emotional impact for me - the same way that the first use of Watchtower did. The reveal of the final four is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show - and it's the music that makes it. This gave me the same breathlessness.
3a. Hera, while adorable and plot-related and I certainly want her with her parents not Cavil, is creepy. I'm sorry, she's a creepy creepy plot device. I care more about the real characters' reactions to her than I do her. Mostly because she's creepy.
I also just spent five minutes trying to figure out why my LJ cut wasn't working before I posted. Changed the format to HTML helps if you, say, want to use HTML.
