Food experiments

I've done a few things with food this week which I'd never tried before and made me very happy. And since all of you have to eat food sometime, I thought I'd share!

I made some roasted beets for a salad. I didn't like the salad, and had lots of beet slices leftover. After they cooled I added balsamic vinegar. YUM. The...balsamicness of the vinegar offset the sweetness of the beet very well. Would highly recommend.

Tonight for dinner I grilled a piece of frozen tilapia (with some spices and lime juice on it) and put it on a piece of bread with spinach. It was so delicious. I'd had tilapia before, but mostly as a formal main dish and all. This was the first time I'd tried it flaked on a sandwich. The texture was perfect, it cooked up in three minutes, and it was so soft and satisfying. I think I'm going to have it for lunch again tomorrow.

On a slightly different note, I am pleased that I'm getting in better shape. I'm doing the same routine, but sweating less and all. However. It is most displeasing when I lift weights twice in a row and don't have any hurt the next day. I don't know if I'm progressing faster than I thought, or if I am wussing out of my workouts. Probably the latter.

Weights: you should feel some soreness, but the aching kill-me-now soreness you probably felt the first few times you did weight training should not come back unless you take an extended break. If you're not feeling any soreness, you aren't pushing hard enough.

also I love beeeeets, but they turn my pee red. This was extremely scary the first time it happened. D:

ps - boiled/roasted beets in spinach salad with goat cheese + basalmic vinegar and olive oil = delicious

Oh man, that sounds great.

I had a few times of "kill me now soreness" and a few times of "oooh, nicely stiff" but now I've got nothing. I guess I'm going to have to step it up.
