The Daily Show owns my soul

I know I haven't posted in a while - I will try to amend that, especially for my non-US girls. I post today, because I have done two, count them, two LJ worthy things!

1. I dropped German. (Sorry Diana). My reasonings for this were few in number, but convincing. 1. I have no German vocabulary. None. And while this wasn't so much of a problem last semester, this semester she wants us able to read and comprehend sentences. And I can't. (It probably didn't help my self-esteem to be sitting by the only other girl in there who is currently taking 3 foreign languages, and that she seems to have been born with a knowledge of German. She gets it perfectly.)

Also, for my internship, I will be missing about 3 weeks of classes at the very end of the semester. Not a good idea. Also, my main purpose for taking German was because I wanted to go to Graduate School. I no longer know if I wish to do that. Even if I do, I will be taking a couple of years off before, and I could take up German again if I so wished.

Also, last semester was very stressful for me. So much so that when I started this semester I was still completely stressed out about all my classes. I do not think that that is the best level to start out the semester. I know that my workload is going to be much much worse by the time April rolls around, just with Greek and Latin, and with my work taking up at least six hours a week, my internship taking up almost all of MWF, working on a website, translating, seeing Matt, etc. I think that I might go insane if I keep German.

Or, as I keep asking myself, was I just too lazy to try with German? In any case, it would take up more time and effort than I am currently willing to commit.

2. More humorous. So, last night, I was flipping between the Daily Show and Iron Chef, and I tried to set my alarm. Well, as happens sometimes, I accidently hit the hour button instead of the alarm button first, so I had to reset my clock to the correct time. Now, you have to understand, that when I'm in Florence, I watch the Daily Show just about every night. (Iron Chef too). So, what do I do? The Daily Show was showing its "Moment of Zen" (right before the ending credits for you unlearned cretins out there) so I said, oh! It's 10:30. The Daily Show always goes off at 10:30. So I set my clock, set my alarm, and watched the rest of Iron Chef - Bamboo Shoots Battle!

So, in the morning, I'm supposed to be covering a tutoring session for MacEwen at 10. I wake up at 9:30 (after a odd dream about the song Protege Moi), get up, get dressed, check my comics, and head out for Buttrick. At which time I see an unusually large number of people doing the same. I think - is there anything special going on today during community hour? I answer - only the ACME lecture, and no one goes to those. I ponder and ponder, until I look at the clock in Buttrick - 10:59.

What I conveniently forgot is that when the Daily Show ends at 10:30, it ends in Florence at 10:30. That is to say...in Central Time Zone. Shit.

I explained myself to Dr. MacEwen, who seemed amused, and said it was okay. I went back to my room - and here I am.

So - a LJ worthy couple of days, eh?

Don't know if I want to go. At the very least I'm going to take a couple of years off. I'm just tired of school.
