Well, I saw it on Saturday.

Firstly - the name is General Frank Grevious. Which is what I thought every single time he came on screen. (Does it say something about me that I originally typed stage instead of screen?)

Padme/Anakin - no chemistry. Period. Period. And Anakin's dreams were just...too weird. I didn't like them. I wish that they were cut out, and instead we saw him moaning, or just talking out loud. The only purpose behind them, I think, was to show us how true they turn out to be, and so we can see Obi-Wan.

OMG! The opening scene with Obi-Wan and Anakin and Artoo! Perfect! The style was remniscent of the original - a perfect mix of humor and drama. It went downhill from there.

I was amused by Anakin being the cause of Padme's death and his dream...blahblahblah.

Dude - the Emperor? Not so scary. Especially after his transformation and, btw, what the hell was that crack? What were they on when they did that? And did anyone else notice how his head swelled up like twice its size after the "transformation". But his killing 3 Jedi in 5 seconds - badass. And his manipulations of Anakin - badass. But he sounded like Gollum with his "no, we're weak" line...sigh...not as good as the original.

I was upset by all the retconning that went on. I mean, all of the end was basically "And now we set up for Ep. 4." I mean, Yoda fails and says "and now I go into exile" - WTF? He wouldn't try again? Did he even know that Padme was pregnant with Force-filled twins? WTF? HE's just gonna give up while the universe goes to hell and the Emperor gets even stronger? *disgustedsigh* And all of the rest was just as bad.

And...yeah...Padme dying? So not even right. Luke asked Leia "Do you remember your mother. Your real mother?" To which she says "She was very beautiful, but sad. She died when I was very young." (Any mistakes made in transcript are from my memory). SO WHY DOES PADME DIE 2 SECONDS AFTER THEY ARE BORN?! HOW THE HELL COULD LEIA REMEMBER HER IF SHE DIED SO QUICKLY! DUDE! And Leia KNEW that she was adopted, and was talking about her real mother. She's not that stupid, and neither was G. Lucas back in the day. He just is now.

This movie achieved what I never thought could be achieved. It made me hate Obi-Wan Kenobi. He stood there and watched Anakin being tortured. He walked away while Anakin was writhing on the ground in agony. He must have gone to the dark side temporarily or something, because that is not a good guy act. But it doesn't even sound like he did, because he was being nice and calling him a brother and all. No rancor in his voice at all. Not even real disappointment. Just Jedi calm. AND WHAT KIND OF JEDI LEAVES HIS BROTHER WHO IS ON FIRE TO DIE?!?!?!?!? He was an absolute bastard. Know this - if any of you (my friends) go evil, destroy all I hold dear, battle me, lose, and start BURNING, I promise to put you out of your misery with a good, swift lightsaber chop, so you won't have to suffer anymore. Or, if I feel especially malevolent (and have unofficially gone to the dark side myself) I will stand there and watch you suffer and die. Because, as Matt reminds me, Obi-Wan was not only a bastard but an IDIOT for just leaving before Vader is dead. Maybe that's because he's a good guy and only read the Hero manual. He needs to read the Evil Overlord one too, just in case of situations like that.

I read a lot of comments about how Anakin was pretending to be happy about the kids. I think that they are wrong. I think that he was indeed happy. I just think his SUCKY acting made us think that he was pretending.

Also - interesting language commentary on the German dub of Sith. Even non German-speakers will understand this. http://www.livejournal.com/users/vaudvillain/14865.html

I KNEW that Anakin would kill Dooku! I've been saying since the last movie that Dooku and Anakin would duel and because of Anakin killing Dooku he would take his rightful place at the Emperor's side! :) I was off a little on the timing...but I was right!

I will say another thing about the movie. When I read Mists of Avalon even though I knew the story I was constantly hoping that the ending would be good, that everything would turn out okay in the end, and I was devastated when it didn't. Because the story was good and I cared about the characters. With this - I found myself rooting for the Emperor in the fight scene against Mace Windu (not just 'cause I'm not that fond of Windu) but because...I had no reason to cheer for good. And I felt sorry for the kids, but for the most part I didn't really care that Anakin was turning bad. But I'm appalled at the Empire in the original...Lucas made us care...no, not care...made the dark side more interesting than the light, and that is a BAD THING! when you want to prove that light is good. But Yoda v. Emperor - YODA!!!!

Also, Yoda was indeed the best character in the entire movie. Best facial expressions. Best acting. Best everything.

Speaking of original characters in the prequels - what was the point of Chewie? There was no point - none. And...it didn't make since either. In Empire Strikes Back, when Luke is in the Bacta Tank he's moaning about Yoda and Dagobah (at least he is in the book. In the movie he only does that as Han is picking him up, but surely Han would have mentioned his ravings.) And if Chewie heard of Yoda, and pep were like WTF, he shoulda been like "Dude - it was this Jedi I met back in the day, he's small and green and badass." Only in Wookie-speak so more like "Awrrrrarwrrrwr...and badass."

And there was little to no point in having Threepio/Artoo in there as well. It was just saying "Look fans - connections to the original, isn't it cool!!" And I feel used. Although I think that the Artoo/Threepio stuff was the best thought out. I mean, in the end they're in the same Corellian Corvette as they were in the beginning of 4, and owned by the same person (Captain Antilles) and Threepio's mind was wiped. So it makes sense. Though I don't see why Artoo wouldn't say something...unless he was wiped later. Unless, as Miles suggested, he's such a smartass as to keep his mind shut.

But there was ONE problem with this. Why does Obi-Wan not remember Threepio and Artoo? Also he says in 4 that "I don't remember owning a droid. Espeically not one of these modern R2 units." So Artoo is MODERN! and Obi-Wan has never seen him before in his life. Which doesn't make sense in the prequels. Which adds to my theory that Lucas is just dangling treats for the fans hoping they'll bite.

In short - much much much MUCH better than 1 and 2. But many things were lacking and some things should have been. I miss the originals.

Seriously though!

Oh! and I completely forgot couple of things.

1. (As Miles pointed out - Miles=Matt's future roomie/good friend). When in the originals did Vader cross his arms?

2. WTF? We go from red and orange to Imperial Gray? Within 2 seconds? And we already have half-constructed Death Star?? WTF? And it was 4 years from the destruction to Return - so...20 years for the first and FOUR for the second?

So...WTF?

I know - when they jumped to the scene with the in-progress Death Star, and they had the Star Destroyers, I honestly thought it was at least ten years later (and maybe just a few years before the original). Then we go to the babies being delivered by Stork!Obi-Wan, and I was like "...eh?"

And why didn't Owen, like, kick him off the farm or something? They should have at least been alarmed when he showed up, baby in tow to give to them. Here's how the scene should have gone:

OBI-WAN (Randomly knocks on door, baby in hand. Beru opens door): Hello. You probably barely remember me, but this is your step-nephew. His father turned to the dark side, killed his mother, and exterminated all the Jedi. This fellow is probably a Jedi as well, so take good care of him. By the way, rather than raising the little fellow myself, as I will be staying on the planet, I will leave him with you for no apparent reason rather than he's your nephew. I will, however, swoop in at some point, train him as a Jedi, and he will go off and have adventures, some of which will probably having to do with dealing with his father. Hopefully I'll do a better job next time of training Jedi. You will have no say in this. So, in short, you get all the trouble of raising him, and I get to watch from a distance until I feel like the time is right.
OWEN AND BERU: *blink*

I mean, I guess he contacted them about it before he landed. But...wouldn't Vader intercept that? And...ARGH! Logic is just not there. Sith was just plain illogical.

Don't forget: "By the way, thanks for taking care of him even though it will ultimately lead to both of you dying a rather disturbing, early death."

And, aw, now I kinda want to see the German version...but I don't want to spend my money on it again...
