Two small rants
Jul. 7th, 2006 02:36 pmPeople. Do you know what a story is? It is a series of events that people like to relate to others. It is not random. It is not supposed to make you guess at every turn what is supposed to happen. Yes, occasionally there will be twists, plot developments, new characters, unexpected things. But this should not be overused.
Now then, when reading a webcomic, and something shiny is thrown at two characters, thrown as if it were a weapons, and the next day there's an explosion where the two characters were, do not call the author lazy. Do not say "who wouldn't've seen it coming?" That was the point. If he had thrown something that looked like a weapon of sorts (during the middle of a battle scene that has been going on for weeks and is finally escalating to the final three demon lords fighting) and the next day had shown everyone making out, then everyone would have been surprised. No one would have seen it coming. Because its fucking random! Look, you throw a weird-ass weapon, weird-ass weapon blows up. Cause, effect. The last panel yesterday was weird light and the two demon lords in pain. Today, there's an explosion. He wasn't trying to mislead you, dumbass, he is simply working in a limited medium. Like all mediums! Idiot!
Miss. Yes you. The reason we reserve rooms is so that you know that you have a place to have your meeting. We're not going to stop you from using that room if you don't have a reservation, only if you are interfering with people that actually took the time to contact me more than three hours in advance to reserve a room.
So don't come down here, ask to reserve a room for that day and look at me funny when I say that all of the conference rooms are taken when you want them. Yes, I know that it wouldn't usually be a problem. But today is a busy day. If you had contacted me earlier, I might have been able to help you. Or you would have at least known that there were no conference rooms available on Friday in this building, and you might have been able to make other plans.
Also, it doesn't go any faster if you come down here in person and ask to reserve a room. As soon as I see the email, I check the calendar. I put your event on the calendar. I email you to let you know that it is on the calendar. This process takes 5 minutes, tops. Did you only come down here because you didn't think that it wouldn't happen anyway? Or because you didn't plan properly? Maybe you should think about what you need in advance next time. Not my problem.
Feeling better now. On a completely unrelated topic, I've finished episode 21 of Princess Tutu, and I want Ahiru and Fakir to be together even more. And I want Kraehe to turn good and be happy. And I have no clue what I want for Mytho. Obviously I don't want him to die. I don't want him to stay manipulated. I don't want him to stay as scary as he is.
Sigh...I totally have my first OT4.
Two things: Aotoa is totally Inui's long-lost twin. The creepy browncloacked people that are freaking out Drosselmeyer are now officially known as the Auditors to me.
That is all.
OMFG Rue/Mytho!! Ahiru/Fakir!!! HOLY CRAP! SO GOOD!
